Päivikki and Sakari Sohlberg Foundation
The Päivikki and Sakari Sohlberg Foundation was established in spring
1988 by Sakari Sohlberg, a justice of the supreme court, and his wife Päivikki
Tulenheimo-Sohlberg, a referendary counsellor.
The foundation has two primary objectives. The first objective of the foundation
is to advance the mental and physical well-being of children and seniors in Finland.
The foundation sponsors medical science, health care and other activities in line
with the objective. The focus in relation to children is on promoting their psychic
development based on Christian and patriotic principles and on easing the obstacles
caused by physical and/or mental challenges.
The amount of grants awarded annually
has reached the level of one and half million Euros (2006 with 2 million Euros
was exceptional as the grants were for 19 monthts).
The second objective of the foundation is to preserve the home of the founders
as a museum.
